I spent a significant part of this weekend photographing the Chinese New Year celebrations in Johannesburg and the greater Gauteng area. It is not a date I have paid much attention to in the past, particularly since most of the Chinese people I ever have contact with are the various shop keepers and restaurant owners around the city. But this year I wanted to practice my photography, so with a bag full of lenses I went first to the Old Chinatown at the bottom of Commissioner Street in the CBD on Saturday …

The Virtual Conversation I Had With Nargis Fakhri

Conversation is a two-way process.

There are very fewer times when you have a meaningful conversation with any one online/virtual world. If you had, it would be just another ‘say and tell’ or ‘Hi and Bye.’ And expecting a good conversation with a celeb is next to impossible.

But one fine day, I read a tweet of Nargis Fakhri who was watching Mohabbatein and was sharing how her mom is a big fan of Hindi films and songs. Her tweets were like she is sitting in front of you and talking. I find this very rare with stars that only promote their films online and are on social network to promote the things related to them.

You would say this is not a conversation, this is just another small talk but I believe any talk that has emotions is a conversation, small or big.

So here is a very small virtual conversation I had with Nargis Fakhri:

It’s All NEW

‘New’ is my favorite word, it makes you happy, curious, suspicious,anxious and lively. I ‘ve recently changed my job location and came to the royal city, Patiala!!(The land of Patiala Peg, and Patiala salwaar) Damn, I am happy for this, as working far from my hometown(Kalka) from last 3.5 years was likehaving the dirty relationship with home sickness. There were times when I thought of running to my home in the midnight, but also there were times when I had the best orgasm of independence.

Changing a new job means meeting new people, new workstation, new home, new buddies, new food and yes, the last and the worst, new expectations. So far the experience of Patiala is quite pleasant and looking for some good times here. The biggest change I am expecting is that finally I would do what I always wanted do apart from career goals, blogging!! Fingers crossed!

Apart from these new things that I am excited about is the groovy, funky and very local new track from the southern film called ‘3’..yups, you guessed it right, it is ‘Why this Kolaveri Di?’ Awesome na?

I am looking forward to watch some places in patiala and will surely blog about it. Meanwhile, God..please give me time and courage to carry this blog regularly.

Why I am Loving Google+

It’s been two days since I got the invitation from Google to join Google+. I am super duper excited ever since I watched its videos on Youtube.

Some of my simple reasons, why I demand my friends, family, colleagues, gym mates and everyone around me to join Google+ are:-

Facebook has become cluttered with status updates, unwanted picture/video tags, stupid Horoscope/numerology applications. On the other hand, Google+ organizes it self with circles which I think is damn cool.
The words used by Google+ like circles, Hangouts, sparks are some of the words which we really use in our day to day life. Its happening unlike Facebook which has become boring!
I like to keep things under Google since its fast and reliable. You can upload pictures and videos quicker than Facebook.
Sparks: One of the biggest advantage of Google+ is Sparks which shows you the best content of YOUR CHOICE.

I am excited and anxious to see how it will turn out when it will start functioning properly.

Small Town Sunday

The much awaited Sunday is here and I am finally thinking I can enter into the strange city of words called blogging. I am and I was always passionate to write a blog but like every other new blogger, I was hell confused on what to write and what not. Trying to blog from 2009, it is 2011 already and if the world is ending in 2012, I need to rush to blogging as soon as possible.

As a radio host, I always look forward to create entertaining airwaves. Though I believe the word ‘Entertainment’ is a mystery in itself and I am in the process to unfold the subject. I feel Radio waves are like black magic, you can’t see or hold but will always get amazed.

Sunday is meant to be lazy and entertaining, a mix I can never understand. My one friend in Ahemdabad tells me how Sunday is all about wandering in a big mall. And I wonder why not? When window shopping and bird watching are the better source of entertainment than most of the TV shows. This is so strange how people behave like an intelligent in front of Idiot box. I pity for the remote control, whose Sunday is the busiest day of the week.

But Sunday in small towns is still the same like 90s, where you get ‘Chhole Bhature’ in the morning and you spend the whole day talking about the big car the neighbour bought some days back . Voyeurism is hell interesting you know? There is no mistake in it, because we don’t have big malls in small towns.

So who cares, if ICC word cup is coming nearer? We have world cup matches of school goers every Sunday in the parking lot and parks, where every batsman is a Sachin Tendulkar and every bowler is Zaheer Khan. The only pity is that you will need to bat second if you don’t own the bat and wickets. What a lovely small town Sunday this is.

I don’t know whether you are living a small town Sunday or a metro one. but hoping that you are ‘living a Sunday’ and that is all that matters.
